1st Years 'walk' paintings
A couple of weeks ago when the sun was still shinning we took our first years for a walk around the docks, they had to sketch and photograph and record as much as they could whilst they enjoyed the views and sunshine and bacon butties! On their return to college they had to make a piece of work based on their journey, what they had seen and experienced. The outcomes are really excellent, they've done a brilliant job of conjuring up the sunny bristolian day by the water.
2nd Year Painting without a brush workshop
There were some excellent outcomes to last weeks workshop which was painting without a brush, quite a hard challenge which our second years rose to with gusto! Blowing paint, splashing paint, squirting paint, smearing paint and dabbing paint were all techniques that were explored. Our corridors are now proudly displaying the work...check it out...
Hayley created this beautiful image using acrylic paint and the wrong end of a paintbrush to make those lovely textured marks |
Georgia painted this bright image of her brothers using a palett knife and acrylic paint |
Charlotte made this painting using her fingers and acrylic paint |
Nikki made this painting using a variety of tools and media including glue and her fingers |
Ashleys blue portrait was done entirely with a palett knife and acrylic paint |
Adrianne's skull was painted using oil paint and a palett knife |
Elliots painting was made by scratching into the surface of the paint after being applied with a palett knife |
Jenny's painting was made using her fingers and running ink |

Misty made a set of pom pom accessories, including this fab ring |
Well done Laura!
Congratulations to artist Laura Cramer who raised £5,500 at the Wow Gorilla auction last night. The Gorilla that she painted, 'Bradisson' was outside the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bristol city centre and our students went to visit her whilst she was working on him. All the gorillas were sold in aid of Bristol Zoo's gorilla conservation project and Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal for Bristol Children's Hospital for special cardiac care.
